Sound Outreach compassionately guides people through the complex array of resources needed to achieve sustainable, independent living.

Our vision is that every senior, disabled, homeless or economically vulnerable individual in Pierce County gains access to sustainable, independent living.

In 1996, Senior Outreach Services was launched to fill a gap in the availability of outreach services to seniors and people with disabilities in Pierce County. In 2001, we broadened our services, becoming South Sound Outreach Services. Today, we are simply, Sound Outreach, focused on helping find solutions for residents in the Pierce County region through a “no wrong door” approach.

Who We Serve

At Sound Outreach, there is no wrong door. Whomever you are, whatever your situation, whatever your need, our staff is here to listen and to help you explore your options

Although we serve everyone, our services are of special interest to:

Low income individuals and families

We have a wide variety of resources for those in need of supportive services. Visit one of our Connection Centers today or shop by our office to meet with us.

We can help you with medical benefits including Medicare options and prescription drug assistance. We can also help you sign up for SNAP EBT Grocery Cards and find meal sites that are conveniently located. If you are worried about being able to stay in your home, we can help you apply for in-home care resources and support. We visit senior centers, and if you’re home-bound, we may be able to come to you.

Individuals with disabilities

We can assist you with applications for Social Security Disability. If you are home-bound, our outreach specialists may be able to come to you.

Homeowners/prospective homeowners

If you are worried about your ability to pay your mortgage, contact one of our counselors today. We may be able to help you prevent foreclosure.

College students

Did you know that you can qualify for SNAP EBT Grocery Card assistance if you have a Work Study job? Call or come in to apply.

Transportation can be a barrier, often causing those in need to miss out on programs and services that lead to sustainable lifestyles. Our Outreach Specialists visit more than 40 locations throughout the county, including senior centers, food banks, meal sites and community centers. Our innovative Connection Centers allow us to offer outreach services every week at Fish Food Banks across the county.
